Jowls

A jowl is a term used for the sagging tissue that develops beneath the jawline.
This occurs as part of the normal aging process as a result of fat and volume loss within the face. Loss of collagen and increased skin laxity weakens the support structure which holds the tissues together within the lower face, thus leaving it vulnerable to the effects of gravity. The combined effect results in a sagging appearance and the formation of so called jowls.
Dermal fillers are an effective treatment for jowls. They act to restore facial volume, reinforce support structures and creating a lifting effect in the lower face.
