Dermal Fillers

As we age, we naturally lose facial volume due to a depletion of fat tissue and bone density in the face.

This volume loss may give the appearance of skin sagging or the development of wrinkles due to the gravitation effects on the tissues in the face and neck.

Dermal fillers are used to help restore facial volume by supporting the natural structure of the face. It comes in the form of an injectable gel made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin. This substance enhances volume and its properties help to draw in water and thus restoring it to its natural and youthful plumpness in appearance and texture.

Dermal filler comes in many different thicknesses, each specifically designed for the particular area of concern in the face. It is used to replace volume and provide support resulting in a more youthful look. Our doctors work with a number of different dermal filler brands and will choose the one which best suits your skin and achieve the results you desire.

Frequently asked questions

Dermal fillers aim to hydrate, add volume and smooth fine lines reversing the natural ageing process and resulting in a more natural, rejuvenated and youthful look. Most patients are suitable for dermal filler treatments but it is not recommended to have this procedure if you are pregnant, breast feeding or allergic to any of the ingredients. This will be determined at your consultation.

At Adore Wellness Clinic, the safety of our patients is our main priority. We only use the most reputable dermal fillers with a high safety profile. Moreover, we use the most leading brands in the aesthetic market, which include both Teoxane and Juvederm ranges. All our treatments are performed by a experienced aesthetic doctor and considered to be very safe.

Dermal fillers can cause mild discomfort, however we ensure to use topical anaesthetic or numbing cream to enhance comfort. Moreover, our doctors purposely use a small, fine needle to help minimise any complications and significantly reduce discomfort. Since we only use premium products, our filler brands contain additional anaesthesia within the syringe itself, which ensures an extra layer of comfort.

It is possible for some patients to experience redness, swelling, discomfort and bruising during and post procedure . However, in the majority of cases this is temporary and should reduce within 48-72 hours post treatment. Make-up can be worn to conceal any visible markings. The risk of such side effects are dependent on the technique used, your prescribed medication (such as aspirin) and the area of the face being injected (some areas are more sensitive than others). For example, lip filler is a little more uncomfortable than jawline filler. If at any stage you feel uncomfortable please make our friendly doctors aware and they can stop and apply more local anaesthetic to the area. Although rare, more serious complications can arise but often very soon after the injection, and our doctors are well trained in recognising and correcting these.

There is little down time to dermal fillers. This is dependent on the site of injection and their side effect profiles can vary. As a general rule, please allow 48-72 hours for any minor side effects to resolve. Most patients are able to carry on with their normal daily routine post treatment and without causing any further disruption to their day. Make-up can be worn to conceal any visible markings.
