Nefertiti Neck Lift

As we age, skin laxity increases due to reduction in collagen and elastin and this along with a reduction in the fat and bone density can lead to sagging of the facial tissues.

This is particularly noticeable around the lower face and neck. Neck concerns are extremely common among the female population. Such concerns include sagging of the lower face and overactivity within the muscles at the neck. The platysma muscle runs from the jawline to the collar bone on either side of the neck. It is a large muscle and can appear more prominent as a result of its overactivity and the common changes associated with ageing. You can see the so called “platysma bands” on clenching your teeth tightly and pulling a wide smile. If these vertical bands appear at rest, then you may be a suitable candidate for the “Nefertiti neck lift”; named after the Egyptian queen “Nefertiti” who was famously known for her smooth neck and sculpted jawline. This treatment is also used to combat the sagging effect on the neck tissues associated with age, giving the so called “turkey neck” appearance.

This procedure involves several small injections of Botulinum Toxin which are carefully placed within the platysma muscle and its associated bands at the neck. This results in a relaxing effect and thus creating an upward lift around the lower face and neck.
