Skin Lesions

A skin lesion refers to any abnormality or change that occurs on the skin’s surface.
It can manifest as a spot, mark, bump, growth, or discoloration. Skin lesions can vary in size, shape, color, and texture, and may be caused by various factors such as infections, injuries, allergies, or underlying medical conditions. Examples of skin lesions include warts, moles, skin tags, rashes, blisters, acne, and skin cancers.
Warts are small, rough growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear on various parts of the body, such as the hands, feet, face, or genitals. Skin tags are soft and benign growths that often hang off the skin on a thin stalk. They tend to develop in areas where the skin rubs against itself, like the neck, underarms, or groin. Moles, also known as nevi, are pigmented spots on the skin. They can be flat or raised, and their color can range from tan to dark brown. Moles can show up anywhere on the body and are usually harmless, although some may require monitoring or removal.
People choose to have these skin conditions removed for a variety of reasons. Cosmetic concerns are common, as these growths can be visually bothersome, especially when they’re noticeable or affect self-confidence. Discomfort or irritation may arise when skin tags or certain warts rub against clothing, jewelry, or the skin. Removal of these growths can alleviate physical discomfort and prevent potential complications. Additionally, concerns about skin cancer prompt the timely removal and evaluation of suspicious skin lesions, skin tags, or moles to ensure early detection and prevention.
