What are spider veins?
Spider veins are like varicose veins but smaller, they are also closer the surface of the skin than varicose veins, making them easier to treat.
Often they are red, blue or purple and can resemble branch like or spider webs with short, jagged lines. They are most commonly found on the legs and face and can cover either small or large areas of the skin.
Injection Micro-sclerotherapy is a treatment for spider veins which involves injecting a chemical substance called ‘Sclerosant’ using fine needles. The Sclerosant irritates the inner wall of the veins and causes them to become inflamed; the vein walls then stick together and the vein disappears.

Frequently asked questions
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed depends on the size and extent of the veins, several injections into the vein of one or both legs can be performed at each session however the amount of Sclerosant that can be injected in a single treatment will limit the number of injections you can have in one session. In some cases 2-3 sessions are required, only after a consultation will we be able to advise better.
What areas can be treated?
Thighs, upper and lower legs (above the ankle)
How quickly will I see results?
It can take between 6-12 weeks to see the full effects of each treatment session, for some individuals it can be less but there is no guarantee of total removal of the veins.
Is there any downtime?
After treatment please avoid extreme temperatures for 14 days including hot baths, saunas, sunbeds.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Avoid Sun Exposure for 3 weeks as pigmentation can be enhanced making the veins taking longer to fade.
Is there any downtime?
Avoid high impact exercise for at least 2 weeks.
