Mastopexy

The procedure is designed to removes excess skin and tightens glandular tissue and also reposition the nipple and areola to raise sagging breasts.

Since ptosis or drooping of breasts is inevitable with ageing and accelerated by menopause and/or pregnancy & breastfeeding, the surgery is in significant demand and has a high satisfaction rate.

Lifting your breast tissues does not add volume, so an uplift can be combined with augmentation procedures such as implants or fat transfer. Depending on the amount of lift required, various techniques with different scarring profiles are available.

A small lift can be performed through a peri-areolar scar, a larger lift can be performed through a lollipop scar. Significant excess skin after major weight loss or breast deflation is best performed through the classic anchor scar which allows for a significant lift and optimal shaping

Mastopexy has a lower complication rate compared with other surgical procedures and  a high satisfaction rate. As ageing or hormonal changes occur, breasts will of course continue to sag therefore redo mastopexy may also be warranted.

Frequently asked questions

Any woman who is concerned by loss of breast shapeliness and sagging tissues as may occur with age, weight loss, pregnancy and/or breast feeding is a suitable candidate for an uplift procedure. Breasts of any size ca be lifted. Smaller breasts sag less with time. Larger breast may benefit from additional breast tissue reduction. The surgical planning and scars are the same.

Ideal candidates for this aesthetic surgery are well-informed, physically healthy non-smokers at a stable weight with sagging, flat, or elongated breasts. Asymmetry, low nipples, and stretch-marked skin are other indicators for such surgery. Breast uplift does not add or remove breast volume, simply remove excess skin,  refashion the breast gland and reposition the nipple-areola complex.

After a detailed consultation & examination Rozina will be in position to discuss your options, recommend a surgical treatment plan and also review risks and share images of the results you can expect including what kind of incisions and scars to expect from your procedure.

The type and position of scars are determined by how droopy your breasts are, how much loose skin you have, and how far the nipple is below the breast crease (inframammary fold).

Breast lift options include:

Anchor or inverted-T lift: Incisions are placed around the areola, down the centre of the breast and along the inframammary crease. This method is ideal for significantly sagging breasts or after significant weight loss. The benefits of the anchor scar are the ability to remove skin in an additional dimension.

Lollipop or vertical lift: Incisions are placed around the areola, and down the centre of the breast to the IMF. The advantage of this procedure is a more limited scar.

Periareolar, “donut,” or “Benelli” lift: A single incision is made around areola and is suitable for the treatment of mild to moderate It is the least invasive form of breast lift but also provides limited results.

Crescent lift: A  crescentic incision can be used to alter areola shape and position as well as effecting a slight breast lift. This is useful in cases of areola asymmetry, correcting minor sagging or for nipple repositioning.

Scars take 18-24 months to mature fully. Surgical scars heal in a more controlled manner than other injuries, but scar outcomes are not entirely predictable or preventable. Rozina has a particular interest in skins of colour and managing difficult scars and is able to offer a range of scar optimisation regimens.

Results are obvious immediately but due to swelling post-op, it takes a week two for the breast tissues to settle. The majority of the outcome will be visible by 3 months. The final result takes up to a whole year to be apparent.

Your breasts will be lifted and more shapely and there may be a decrease in bra size due to the breast sitting in the cups better.

Absolutely. A breast lift is great on its own if you are happy with the size/weight of your breasts, you just want them to be more pert and younger looking with more fullness and smaller areola.

If you would like to increase the volume, pertness and address any areas of lack of tissue then combining uplift with fat transfer is an ideal solution. Rozina has named this the ‘lipolift’ and it is an ideal procedure for most first time mom  ‘mommy makeovers’

If you’re looking for more volume and want upper pole fullness, then combining uplift with implant augmentation is a well-tried and tested combination. It gives you enhanced size, shape and pertness.

The classic ‘mommy makeover’ is a combination of breast uplift +/- implant and an abdominoplasty (ptosis and tummy tuck). This is great for second/third time mums who have troublesome excess skin or stretch-marks over breasts and bellies.

Another favoured combination is implant removal +/- capsulectomy with breast uplift – this is a great one stage ‘chest rejuvenation’ with removal of implant and capsule. The end result is a small, young, pert chest.
