Rhinoplasty

Surgery of the nose (rhinoplasty) is an operation frequently performed by plastic surgeons.

What is Rhinoplasty?

This surgical procedure can produce changes in the appearance, structure, and function of the nose. This treatment can reduce or increase the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip, narrow the width of the nostrils, or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip. This operation can help correct birth defects, nasal injuries.

Incisions may be made within the nose or concealed in inconspicuous locations of the nose in the open procedure. Internal nasal surgery to improve nasal breathing can be performed at the time of the rhinoplasty.

Who will benefit from rhinoplasty?

The best candidates for this type of surgery are individuals who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the appearance of their nose. In addition to realistic expectations, facial features need to reach maturity first, so teens should wait until they’re at least 15 (girls) or 16 (boys) years old and good health and psychological stability are important qualities for a patient considering rhinoplasty surgery.

How long does the treatment take?

It typically takes 1–2 hours to perform rhinoplasty surgery, but more complicated procedures may take slightly longer.

Does the treatment hurt?

Rhinoplasty surgery itself doesn’t hurt, thanks to the anaesthesia.

How long does it take to heal?

It takes up to two weeks to heal after rhinoplasty surgery. Most patients are back to work in 10 days.

  I felt very comfortable with Mr Oudit right from the start.  I explained my problems to him and he was very informative about how he would perform my surgery.  I saw him before I had my surgery and I felt really at ease.  The pain after my procedures, revision abdominoplasty and thigh lift, was only painful when moving about, even then not too bad.  The pain went away gradually over the next week until it was barely noticeable.  Overall I would say it was very little considering the amount of surgery I had.  I felt cared for all through my surgery and after care.  Mr Oudit is a very caring person.  I would highly recommend him to friends.  I am really happy with the results.  I had to have a revision because of the mess made by a previous Surgeon, and Mr Oudit has done a wonderful job.  I can’t praise him highly enough.

  I made a decision to have my left ear pinned back because it was very prominent. I made an approach to the local BMI hospital and was given an appointment to consult with Mr Deemish. He explained the procedure to me and I left the consultation happy and confident that he would do a great job. Two weeks after the consultation I had the opertation. The operation was performed under a local anaesthetic, I did not feel anything apart from the injection. My ear was dressed and my head wrapped in a bandage, I had to keep this one for one week. I had mild pain and discomfort but was able to control that with paracetamol. When the nurse removed the bandage and dressing to reveal the result I was amazed and delighted with the result. It is now three weeks since the operation and I have no pain or discomfort. My ear looks "normal" and I am really pleased. Thank you Mr Oudit.
